60 pounds

Woke up this morning and weighed myself like I do everyday.  I do this just to keep myself on track.  Sometimes the daily fluctuations drive me crazy but it gives me a general idea of how what I eat and how active I am affect my weight.  Over the past year losing weight has been a little trickier than it was before.  Sometimes I plateau  because I am working out a lot and not eating enough.  Other times I eat too much and just end up evening out the calories in and calories out.  Honestly I have not been putting in an effort to lose since I am training for a marathon my main concern is proper nutrition so that I can perform well.  Yet somehow over the past month  I have been in a very good weight loss groove and have been averaging 1 pound a week.  So today when I stepped on the scale I saw that I was officially down 60 pounds from when I started my weight loss journey.  It is hard to believe that I was carrying around all that weight.  I complain about my fuel belt weighing me down and that only weighs about 3 pounds, 60 pounds would be like wearing 20 fuel belts.  CRAZY!!!!

Two weight loss goals down and one to go.  Even with all that weight lost I am still not at my optimal running weight, I need to lose 6 more pounds to reach that goal.  Seems like a lot considering it took me almost a year to lose the last 11 pounds.  But I will continue to do what I have been doing: trying to eat healthy foods (most of the time), keep my portions of unhealthy/ snacky foods small, stay active and not worry about it. Hopefully that works :)

  5. That is simply amazing. Slow and steady progress although frustrating can produce great results. Keep up the good work.

  6. Congratulations! That is a lot. And I bet you are running faster now also. When I hit a plateau I found that yoga and/or strength training boosted the ratio of muscle to fat. You can do it.

  7. Awesome! What an accomplishment! You’re definitely living a better life than 60 lbs. ago. Congrats and keep staying fit!

  8. Congrats on the accomplishment! 60 pounds is huge! I know how tough it is to balance training and weight loss. I’m down 15 pounds this year and 50 pounds the last two.

What I found is when I got a lot less concerned about calorie tracking and a lot more dilligent about putting in quality miles, the weight just kind of flew of.

  9. This is fantastic! Congratulations on this great achievement. I love reading stuff like this. :)

  12. Another congratulations from this camp!! You look so fit and trim now. Don’t stress over those last 11 if they don’t want to come off. Enjoy your running and other activities. Again, you look fantastic!!

  13. That is so awesome. You should be so proud of yourself. I wish the majority of Americans would do this! I think I heard somewhere that 60% of Americans are overweight. That is quite an achievement. Most importantly, it is okay to fluctuate a little bit. Again, Congratulations!

  14. This is really impressive. Congratulations!

Keep it up and congrats! What an awseome accomplishment!
