• About Me

  • Running has brought great joy to my life. I use this blog to log my running experiences and maybe even inspire a few people to get out there and run. If a turtle like me who couldn't run for more than two minutes without feeling like I was at death's door can run, anybody can.

A couple of weeks after I ran the Rock and Roll San Antonio marathon my right ITB has been tight and painful.  The knee pain has made me walk home a couple of times from a run or cut a run short.  I keep thinking I have moved past it and then it comes back.  [...]

Love at first run!- Brooks Launch

Since I wrote about my Nike Free yesterday, I thought I would write about the shoe I run in the rest of the time today Brooks Women’s Launch Running Shoe. After I started running in the Nike Free once or twice a week I really started to hate running in my old Asics 2140.  [...]

    Nike Free V5.0

In an effort to gain the benefits of barefoot running without actually running barefoot or running in my vibrams (which I love but still haven’t managed to run more than 4 mile in) I bought a pair of Nike Wmns Free 5.0 V4 354751-301.  I really love this shoe.  They are light and comfortable. They [...]

    Running in Vibram Five Fingers

Just like many other runners I have read the articles on barefoot running and the book “Born to Run” and been intrigued by the possible benefits.  At first it sounded wacky to me because of all the hype sneakers get and how I’ve  often read that most of us need running sneakers to correct our [...]

    Favorite Sports Bra

      Moving Comfort Fiona

This is the best sports bra I have ever owned.  I bought one about a month ago at Betty’s Sport.  First off they  fitted for my proper bra size ( when you lose 50 pounds everything changes), of course I was wearing the wrong size.  The sales girl recommended a few and by [...]

    Got Some New Summer Gear

Summer is coming  so I bought a couple of new things for training in the heat.
I like to wear hats when I train or race because they stop me from looking like a wild woman and it keeps the sun out of my eyes.  But I have thick hair and I guess a big head [...]

New Sneaks for Long Runs and Good Pace Workout

I love my Women’s Brooks Running Shoes | Brooks Axiom 3 they are a nice stability sneaker and they fit my foot and running style perfectly.  My only  problem  with them is that they are lightweight and don’t really offer enough shock absorbtion and cushioning for long runs.  So I went in search of a [...]

    A Milestone and a First

I’ve been using my Nike + to track my runs for over a year now.  As I mentioned in a previous post it has been both helpful and motivational.  Today I reached a new milestone on Nike +,  I have logged 1,000 miles on there website.  Looking back through my runs I can see how [...]

    Update: Foam Roller

Just a short follow up on my foam roller post.  I have been using it every day since I bought it, sometimes more than twice.   The first time I did the exercise for my ITB it really hurt on the side that was giving me trouble, it also took a couple of tries to [...]

    Garmin 305 is the Winner

A big thank you to everyone who gave me their opinions and review of the different GPS watches.  It seems that most people use the 205, 305 and 405.  Here is a brief summary of  what people said about each watch.
