• About Me

  • Running has brought great joy to my life. I use this blog to log my running experiences and maybe even inspire a few people to get out there and run. If a turtle like me who couldn't run for more than two minutes without feeling like I was at death's door can run, anybody can.

  • Thinking about buying a Garmin: But which one should I buy?

I am seriously thinking  purchasing  a Garmin.   Up to now I have been using the nike +, and as I previously posted it has worked well for me.  But my husband offered to buy me a Garmin, so I am considering it, I do enjoy new toys and new ways to track my runs [...]

    Foam Roller

Just bought myself a foam roller.  The foam roller is a firm foam log that is six inches in diameter. It is used to roll against the muscle knots with your own body weight to generate the direct pressure. Imagine using a rolling pin to roll out lumps in bread dough. I have read that [...]

Carrying Water and Fuel During Runs

The only thing I like about running on the treadmill is that I don’t have to carry my water around, I just put it in the cup holder and when I am thirsty I just drink.  I really did not start  carrying water until I started running for more  6 miles at a time.  I [...]

    My Take on Nike +

When I started adding running intervals into my walking route, I either did it for as long as I could or tried to reach a certain landmark along the way.  As my running intervals got longer I was curious about my distance and pace.  So initially we drove the distance to see what it was [...]

    My Heart Rate Monitor

One of my favorite pieces of gear is my Polar F4 Women’s Heart Rate Monitor Watch (Blue Ice). It has been a great tool for weight loss.  The ability to accurately track my calories has allowed me to set and meet goals for burning calories.  One of the other benefits of using a heart rate [...]

    My Favorite Running Pants

When I started working out I wore any old thing.  And then I realized that some clothes were just not meant to be sweated in, so I began wearing moisture wicking fabrics.  My husband even gave me some under armour clothes for my birthday, which I love by the way.  And these all helped with [...]

    New Kicks

My sneakers died.  I was in denial for a week, but I could deny it no longer.  About mile 10 of my half marathon the ball of my foot started hurting which was very unusual because I never have foot pain while running.  I thought maybe it was because I was running on the road [...]
