Hi Lisa,
Sounds like a good plan, we all deserve a reward after a race :) I understand not wanting to invest in a garmin yet though, I did not until recently. Because 1)my long runs have gotten very long 2) the small distance discrepancy in the nike + increase exponentially over long distances 3) I started doing a plan with more structured speed workouts. Something I did before I got my garmin was do my speed workouts at the gym on the treadmill. As much as I hate the treadmill, it is a useful tool, you can easily keep track of your of your time and pace. The nike + interval workout s were also good for building speed and endurance, you don't have to look at your watch, they just tell you when to speed up and when to slow down. I saw big improvements with my speed doing the Lance Armstrong nike + workout. I love all the stats and numbers the Garmin gives but you if have a stop watch that has a lap feature you can easily figure out your times.

Hi there, been following your blog for a bit. Love your post and how it illustrates what a Garmin can do. I want one but since I'm not a high mileage runner yet I feel like I should wait. I'm training for a 10k and I need to do some speed workouts but I'm not sure how to do them without a Garmin. I'll probably have to drag my husband to the track with a stopwatch and have him record my times while I run. Maybe after I complete the 10k I'll reward myself with a Garmin.

Congrats again on a great workout. I love your data. That is something that I don't track at all but I can see how useful it is. I am going to check out your posts about the Garmin. Since I am determined to be a better runner, it is something I am going to look into.

Justine,
Nike + was good and served it's purpose, but the Garmin takes it to a whole new level. And I am just discovering all the cool things that I can do with it. You'll love it! We don't have to give up Lance though, I still love that workout!

Charles,
I really did have a great time, I've been worried about getting my workouts in this week. But the kids have been awesome, and I love getting them involved in the things I love to do. Oh and about my pace, I'm not sure that I can do it again, I was pleasantly surprised.

A good warm up and cool down run, intervals and having the kids around! What could possibly make for a better workout!

Good pace! I wish that I could do that!
