Well, after reading this I ordered one. The cost difference now is really hard to look past. Some pretty good discounts.

Hi Nicole,
I am very happy with my decision..The 305 is easy to use, I've never had a problem with satellite signal, not as bulky as I thought it would be and the battery life is great. Good luck with your decision

Hey!
I'm in the same situation right now. I cant decide on what one to get! I really like the look of the 405 but the 305 seems to get better ratings. I'm in a jam because i wouldnt mind spending more money but i dont wanna get it and hate it, wishing i would have got the 405. What do you think? Are you happy with your decision???
Thanks!

This is a great review and decision mapping of your choice to go with the 305! You may have convinced me of the same. I'm thinking about the 405 but maybe 305 is for me... :-)

So now runningahead.com can upload the garmin GPS into its system...so that was the turning point for me. I ended up purchasing the 305! I also overnighted it so I can check it out this weekend...I'm excited!

Great choice. You'll be happy with it!

Now for the software! What comes with it is adequate! BUT...

Try SportsTrack software. You'll like it, too! You can find it here -

What do others think?

Congrats on the choice! Another great thing about Garmin is that you can track your workouts like you did with Nike +. I use a program called SportTracks. It syncs with the garmin and helps me track my mileage and split times.
