Hip pain, No run, Nice walk and Sunburn
So I woke up this morning and thought I would go out for an easy recovery run. That was NOT a good idea. Even though I took Advil this morning, my hip/adductor was huuurrting and was stiff. I went about a quarter of a mile and then just turned back. The pain was intense and was just getting worse. After going to the doctor last Monday and finding out I did not have a stress fracture and that I could continue running, I just started running my normal schedule. He did tell me to keep my mileage low for a while, I guess 32 miles was not low enough. I may have to build back up a little more slowly than I thought. There will be icing, taking of ibuprofen and stretching going on throughout the day today. Hopefully I will be able to push out four miles tomorrow.
Went with the family for a 2 mile walk on the Brushy Creek trail today, it was a gorgeous morning I had to get out and move even if I couldn’t run. I really need a bike, not sure what kind to get though. We brought bread to feed the ducks and geese. They were nuts and my kids were throwing the bread right next to their feet and then flipping out because the birds were too close. My husband also made little cork boats with the kids before we left and we sailed them at the lake. We had a great time.
Afterwards we went to the pool, the cool water felt really good on my hip. My husband refused to wear the kiddy sunscreen (the only kind I brought with us) and burned his belly. I say this as a reminder to all you runners, summer is here, don’t forget your sunscreen when you are running outdoors. I hope everyone had a great long weekend!!

I am sorry to hear about your hip. I hope you get feeling better soon.
Bummer about your adductor. Wishing you a speedy recovery so you can get back out running pain free.
That is bad news! Sorry to hear about your injury.
Very wise to go out for a walk and to keep moving.
Get well soon!
Your husband is so creative! Those boats are so cool! I’m sorry to hear about your hip. 32 miles? DANG GIRL! Thats awesome! Sounds like you had a fun family walk!
Sorry your hip is still giving you trouble. I’m right there with you with my tendonitis in my ankle. Hope we both get well very soon!
Dang it. Sorry to hear about your hip. At least you were able to get out and enjoy the weekend with your family. Sounds like an amazing day! It stormed here all weekend long so there was no fun outdoor time.
I had that exactinjury back in December last year. I had a bunch of 12 to 15 mile weeks, and even a couple of zero mile weeks. Took me about 2 months to resolve.
Is your doc a sports medicine doc? If not, they don’t realize that 30 mpw *is* a light mileage week…
Owwww…so sorry the hip is aggravating again. I know that has to be frustrating. And yes – sunscreen is a MUST. The summer heat is here, indeed. (boo…)
could your hip pain be IT related? I have had intense pain in the knee when I’ve had it, but I know it sometimes manifests in the hip.
Thanks all for you well wishes and kind words.
@Glenn he is not a sports doctor so I’m sure 32 miles is more than he expected..I need to take it easy now so I will be ready for training starting in July.
@ Chris it may be IT related, I did my foam roller tonight and it huurt..my IT band must be tight
