I ran on Sunday as well. The fact that you ran your 1st marathon in under 4 is amazing. The fact that you did it with that humidity makes it even more so.

I have been searching the internet for others who ran the race to see how my experience compares. Your experience was very similar to mine, both in pre-race strategy and late race experiences. My race report is at www.middleagedathlete.com if you want to read it.

Again, great job. Keep training. 3:40 is in your future.

Middalia,

All I can say is WOW! Difficult conditions and you ran your 1st marathon under 4:00. That is so impressive. I ran Twin Cities in 2007 and they almost cancelled the race because of the heat and humidity.

I felt the same way during my 1st marathon at mile 23. I am never doing this again. I have run 16 marathons now and I am still looking to break 4 hours.

You just did awesome and I think Turtles can run Boston is a good title, but you are more like a roadrunner. Beep Beep!

Congrats!!!

Congratulations!

"I’m never doing this again" - I've said this after every race, and I always end up doing it again!

I've heard that SA is a great marathon, much better than Austin...

That is an outstanding effort for a first time marathon! I know the conditions were not prime, and you still hit four hours. I see BQ here in the near future! Now take some time and recover before starting your next training cycle. You did well to avoid injury while training the first time, don't tempt fate now by showing lack of patience.
