Pleasant Surprise on Long Run
Got up and got the kids up and out to school. Then I ate my breakfast, Kashi oatmeal with raisins in it. Loaded my fuel belt bottles with powerade, strapped on my heart rate monitor, grabbed my ipod and headed for the trail. My plan was to run 14 miles. Started out slow, felt sluggish for the first 2 miles. Then I picked up the pace a little. at mile four, I ran up and down a decent sized hill three times. That really got my heart pumping and I kept going strong. Ran back to the beginning of the trail and was pleasantly surprised to see my husband. We ran another six miles and it was great. I was really tired by the end, but the last half of my run was so much easier because I had good company and conversation. I ran a total of 14.93 miles in 2 hours and 19 minutes. Made sure I stretched and took a cold shower after. I used the foam roller again, it is a little akward, and more than a little painful along the ITB of my left leg. After using it though, I did feel like a got a deep massage which got rid of some of the tightness I was feeling. I am not in any pain, which is good. We will see how the legs feel tomorrow.
