Making my Husband Toss his Cookies

Mr. TurtlesCanRun and I went for a run yesterday.  I had had a goal pace in mind so I went for it, nothing too fast, half marathon pace.  Mr. T made it through mile 1, he said it was an uncomfortable but doable pace  for him.  By mile 1.5 his breathing was ragged ( he has asthma/allergy problems), at this point I probably should have slowed down, but he told me not to so I kept going.   Another quarter of a mile he lost it, since I can’t stand to hear or see someone puking I kept going.  I figured I would catch him on the way back, since we were only doing 4 miles.  We caught back up with each other and he managed the pace for a little while.  Then he  had to walk a little, so I kept going and  would back track a little so that I did not get to far ahead of him. Once I completed 3 miles I slowed my pace to match his and  we finished the run together at a slow pace.

You might think that after an experience like that my husband would never want to run with me again.  But instead, at the end of the run he said to me, “We need to do this more often”.  I love that!!

  1. It’s great to be able to exercise with a loved one. Having said that, wanting to repeat a puke-inducing heavy run does sound hard-core!

  2. Hahaha! What a cute story! :) I love exercising with my boyfriend.

  3. I’m glad my hub’s running as well, but we can’t do it together – he’s always asking me why I’m rushing :)

  4. What a great hubby! That is awesome that you two can exercise together. Brian and I hit the gym together but don’t work out together. When I want to be outside, he walks the dog while I run. =)

  5. I’m adding you to my blogroll if you dont mind! :)

  6. @COMC He thought the post made him sound pretty tough, so he did not mind me telling the world I made him puke..hehehe

  7. Nicole,
Cool, of course I don’t mind. I need to put one of those up on here as well, when I do I’ll be sure to include blog :)

  8. That is too much! Way to go, my husband and I can’t run together. We’re too competitive and we’d both end up puking – plus, he’s much faster lol!
