Racing Plans Update
Procrastinator, that is me. Everyone else seems to have their race year planned out but I wait till the last minute to sign up for race. I am all signed up for two next weekend, but I am only going to really be running one for full speed. Saturday, I will be running in the Texas Round-Up 10k, this one I will be trying to do fast (well fast for me). I don’t have a race PR for a 10k so I don’t have a time I will be trying to beat, but I do have a time in mind. We’ll see how it goes.
The second race of the weekend will be a Purple Stride Austin 5k with my daughter. I don’t think we will be going very fast and will probably be taking walking breaks, but it should be fun. She is really excited and I think a little nervous but I am going to try to make it fun for her and let her set the pace.
My first marathon plan has also changed. I decided to do the Rock N Roll San Antonio instead of Philly, it is a week earlier. There are several reason for this decision. But it boils down to a local race being easier for me. Being able to come right home and rest is much more appealing. I know if we went to Philly, I would feel pressured to fit in as much as we could in during our trip and I would not get any rest the whole week. We will probably still go up and visit with our family during the Holiday season, it just won’t be during my marathon prep or recovery period. I plan on traveling for races in the future but I thought for my first marathon this might be the best course of action.
So now I have three races on my schedule. I will probably do a few more this year, just not ready to commit yet.

Good luck with your upcoming races! I only have one race planned this year but I do want to add at least 1 more to the list. I like the new look to your blog too. Nice job. =)
The two races sound like great fun, especially the one you will be running together. It’s great to run a race with someone else.
It can be tough to plan races way in advance. The problem with the better known runs (in NL) is that they tend to fill up quickly, so often you need to sign up six months in advance,
Good decision on the local marathon rather than one with many sights to be seen before and after the event.
Congrats on setting your next couple of races. I completely understand your reasoning for choosing to do the SA RnR marathon – that’s how I wound up doing the 1/2 that I did. I was really tempted to do the Disney Princess 1/2, but since it was my first big race, I didn’t know how I would feel afterwards…and didn’t want to be in Orlando if I couldn’t enjoy all the parks! I’m sure you will have just as much fun doing the race in SA – the different music races (RnR, country music, etc) sound like they would be SOOO much fun!
Hey, no worries, you are not the only one that plans races at the last minute!, actually, if you were to ask me, I think you are better organized than me!
Good luck on your races, what is your 10k time?, cool T-shirts!!

@Crystal Thanks!!
@Kat That is so funny! I thought about doing a Disney one as well, but thought the same thing
@Atrunsi I don’t have an official timed 10K, so I guess we will find that out on Sat.
I’m traveling to my first marathon. I’m running Chicago. Do you have a goal time in mind or are you just doing it for fun? I’m super competitive and as much as i say oh i’ll just go out for fun, i’ll probably end up racing myself ha ha ha ha!
Good luck on your races!
I know a lot of people say for your first you should be happy just finishing. But I always like to have a goal, it gives me something to work towards. So my goal is to finish in under 4 hours. I’ll be happy be 3:59:59.
