I like my hybrid bike just fine; I have a Trek 7.3. It’s not as speedy as a road bike, and it’s not as muscly as a mountain bike, but it’ll take me on gravel trails without making me think my tires will pop, and I can ride on roads without killing my leg muscles. It may not be the “best” of any one domain, but it does all of them reasonably well – sort of like me!

@Julie- I have to get to my class pretty early on certain days too. I usually just hang my bag on a bike. My friend told me in January when everyone is trying to get in shape sometimes fights break out. You should try a class though, it is fun and a great workout.
@Nicole- I am a member where I take spin. But I know some clubs let you pay per class. Or if you want to try it out you could probably score a free pass for the first time.

I really need to try this spinning class. I wonder how much they are to take at the Y? Do you have to have a membership to take a class or what??

I have the same bike i got when i was 12. Shows how much i ride it. LOL

I’m always hesitant to try out spinning. They are jam packed here in California. You have to get here like an hour early to get a bike or otherwise pay a fee to save a spot.

I have a simple mountain bike. I’m freaked that a car in going to hit me while on it. Although I had a bad bike accident on a trail ride a few years ago.

Spinning is probably much safer and cheaper…

I don’t have any suggestions on a bike to purchase because I have the same questions. I want to purchase a bike but I am not sure what kind. I look forward to seeing what others have to say.
