Running on a new trail-Williamson County Park
I guess I should say new to me, because it is not actually a new trail. We all went out to the Williamson County Park today. My husband and the kids went for a 2 mile nature walk as I ran almost 8 miles. The trail has two parts: a crushed granite 2 mile loop with markers every 1/4 mile and another 2 mile loop. This second loop is a mulch and dirt trail and it doesn’t have mile markers. I found this second loop a little disorienting. It felt a long longer than it actually was, oh course I had my Nike plus to tell me my distance, but I don’t usually push the button often during my runs. I know my other trails and routes so well, every turn, hill, and the distances that I don’t have to. I liked the mulch trail, but the dirt sections were very uneven and a little hard on my ankles, I guess because I don’t have trail shoes. The park also has a track, tennis courts, sports fields, and a playground. It was nice to run somewhere new, somewhere different, I think I need to do that more often.
Here’s a picture my husband took on the trail.
