Running Slow and Running as a Family
All my runs this week have been pretty slow. Everytime I speed up I feel a pain in my left adductor muscle. I am thankful that I have still been able to run. My mileage was also way down, only 15 miles. That is the lowest it has been in a long time, but I did do spin class twice this week, so am getting in some other workouts.
Today we ran together as a family. My daughter and I stayed together and Andrew and my son stayed were a little behind us. It was very nice, we ran three miles total. We stopped at every mile for a little drink break and at mile two we stopped at the park so the kids could play at the park. Today was the first time my son ran three miles, he wants to do a 5k since his big sis did. We will all be doing the Chuys 5k next weekend. It should be lots of fun. We are going to run in the same groups we did today, unless my son wants to run with me instead, it is up to him. I thought about racing at my normal 5k speed but I think I need to take it easy for another week. My son has a much lower key personality than my daughter but I can tell he is excited, he has been wearing tshirts from his kids K runs for the past two days. I love that my whole family is getting into running, and I think that it will be something that keeps us close as the years go on.

It is so cool that you run with your whole family. I am sure that it is a great start for the kids. I often wish I had started running years earlier.
That is so cool that your whole family runs. Almost makes me want a kid so I can train him/her to run with me
Have fun next weekend!
what a cool way to bond with your kids and husband! sounds like lots of fun!
That is great that your kids are getting into running. At the race I did yesterday, there were so many kids who were running w/their parents – I was amazed and impressed by all of them!!!
i love to hear how you run as a family. it inspires me. my son just said he wanted to race. and since he wears my race shirts, we started him training last night with his first consistent kilometre. Now we’re aiming for a 3km family race in june on father’s day! my husband and i are running a half this wknd – my 3rd and his 2nd. and my daughter just can’t wait to get started as well… its truly fun to share!
