• About Me

  • Running has brought great joy to my life. I use this blog to log my running experiences and maybe even inspire a few people to get out there and run. If a turtle like me who couldn't run for more than two minutes without feeling like I was at death's door can run, anybody can.

  • I Set a New PR at the Daisy 5k

Woke up at 5 AM, a little earlier than I needed to but I couldn’t sleep anyway.  For some reason I always get nervous before a race.  I guess its because  I always have a goal time in mind and  I don’t like failing to meet a goal I have set.   But I always set realistic goals based on my training so I have yet to be disappointed.   It was very cold and windy this morning, at least compared to what it has been.  The past four days we have had temperatures in the 80s, this morning it was in the 40s.  We drove downtown, and we got there way earlier than I expected, so we sat in the car and waited around.  After an hour of waiting it was finally race time. I made sure I warmed up a little so I could start out at a good pace. My goal for this race was to come in under 25 minutes.   I wish I would have had my new Garmin today so I could have seen my splits, but they did have timers at mile 2 and 3.  I reached mile 2 in 15:46,  So I knew I was on pace.  The last mile was the hardest because the wind was blowing against me.  Despite the wind I  reached the finish line in  24:56.    I am very happy with my time.   I met my goal and set a new PR.

The Daisy 5k was a nice little race.  Women get a 3 minute headstart and a Daisy at the end.  It was a very easy course, great for setting a new PR :) .  The kids enjoyed their fun run and my daughter was happy that she also got a daisy for finishing.
