Signed Up for Some Races

I’m all signed up to run the Casa 5K and the Cedar Park 5 miler. I will be running these two little races before the big one (The Rock ‘N Roll San Antonio for those of your who don’t know).  I am looking forward to doing both of these races because I did them last year and because I haven’t raced in a while.  Races really add some excitement and are a good gage of the progress. Running these races last year was a very big deal for me  since I was a total newbie at racing and running in general.  I made so many mistakes at both..going out to fast ( the most common mistake), messing with my ipod (which died in the middle of the five miler but I didn’t know that was the problem so I kept fidgeting with it, big waste of time), drinking to much coffee before ( which made me feel dehydrated)  and not hydrating properly  (which also made me feel dehydrated).  It will be interesting to see how much better I can do at both  this year.

  1. Races are fun! Hope you enjoy them (I’m sure you will). :)

  2. Cant wait to see the compairson! Your going to smoke both races girl!

  3. I hate registering for too many races so close to each other in time, gets too expensive. I still have issues with starting off too fast in races, which I hate! If only I had the will power (or smarts) to hold back in the beginning, I would actually have energy to finish strong or at least keep a good pace toward the end.

I recently had too much iced tea before a run which got me really dehydrated, but I definitely learned from that!

Good luck on all of your races!!

  4. The first year that I started running, I fell in love with “racing”.

It was so fun to challenge myself in a way I never thought was possible. It was so cool to be part of the local running community. I couldn’t get enought of it.

    Every race is a gift.

    Enjoy the journey!

  5. Good luck with the races! Hope you smoke your times from last year!

  6. I always find that incorporating small races into my training schedule, no matter the distance, make such a huge difference in my training for a “big race”. They give me an idea of where my strengths and weaknesses are, but also motivate and inspire me. I thrive off the energy of being surrounded by other runners, the event atmosphere, and the excitement of trying to better my time at that particular distance.

Good luck & have a great time!!
