I always find that incorporating small races into my training schedule, no matter the distance, make such a huge difference in my training for a "big race". They give me an idea of where my strengths and weaknesses are, but also motivate and inspire me. I thrive off the energy of being surrounded by other runners, the event atmosphere, and the excitement of trying to better my time at that particular distance.

Good luck & have a great time!!

The first year that I started running, I fell in love with "racing".

It was so fun to challenge myself in a way I never thought was possible. It was so cool to be part of the local running community. I couldn't get enought of it.

Every race is a gift.

Enjoy the journey!

I hate registering for too many races so close to each other in time, gets too expensive. I still have issues with starting off too fast in races, which I hate! If only I had the will power (or smarts) to hold back in the beginning, I would actually have energy to finish strong or at least keep a good pace toward the end.

I recently had too much iced tea before a run which got me really dehydrated, but I definitely learned from that!

Good luck on all of your races!!
