Tempo Group Run
Yesterday I decided to go running with the gym running group again. I knew they were going to do a tempo run and I should be doing an easy run, but I figured I could run at my own pace and be fine. Well it did not quite happen that way, first we warmed up at a pretty good pace. Then we hit the tempo and of course I was trying to keep up with the group leader, even though everyone else was running at their own pace. I kept up the first mile, we finished it in 7:56, which is really good for me. Halfway through the second mile I had to let up a bit because my chest was feeling tight. So she got ahead of me, but my second mile was still 8:35, third mile she stayed with me but I could tell she could have gone much faster but I was hapy to have company time 8:30. Then we cooled down with another mile. My time for the 5 miles 42:42 which is 8:32 min/mile, that is really good for a turtle like me. I really think this running group is going to help improve my speed, I am really glad I joined. I felt great afterwards. I made sure I drank my whole 20oz bottle of water and powerade mix and then had a whey protein shake when I came home. That seemed to do the trick, no fatigue or dizziness. Looking forward to my 8 miles today and a rest day tomorrow!!

That is a great run. Good to hear about the running group. I ran with one last Wednesday, and it was better than I had ever imagined. Enjoy the long run and I am more than curious about your running-group experiences.
