Amy,
They are spandex on the outside. On the inside they have padding the shape of a bike seat..I wore another pair of shorts over them so I don't think any body could see the extra padding...I will post a pic tonight.

Justine,
Inch by inch, is exactly how I did it, increasing my mileage a little every week. Celebrating each new personal best in my training, new mileage and/or faster speed. The major increases came when I started training for my first half. Hitting double digits for the first time made me feel strong, like I could accomplish anything. You'll be there before you know it. You are doing great!

Looks like a good workout for next week... I wouldn't be too bummed about running 3 miles in 27 minutes...I think you're doing a great job!

Do you have a picture of your bike shorts? I'm picturing spandex but then you said they feel like a diaper, lol.

Hi there,
I stumbled upon your blog via another (can't remember which one though) and have been enjoying reading about your training and progress. I'm in awe that a year ago you couldn't run a mile and now you will be running 18 this weekend. Such a great accomplishment. I'm looking forward to following your training.

18 miles is nothing if you have done 17. It is only a state of mind.

Gosh, an 18 mile run, you're a total rock star!
I get what you mean about your comfort zone, I want to get better at yoga, so I've been doing more yoga at home to get myself more comfortable with it before I take classes. :)
